Educating Rhonda: Water Quality

“This is going to be a huge problem and no one wants to talk about it.” — Dr. Chris Jones, University of Iowa Hydroscience Engineer. Tonight, at my Educating Rhonda event in Grimes, we DID talk about it. Thanks to Dr. Jones for sharing his important research about Iowa’s nitrate and water quality problems — and a few of the things we need to do now to mitigate the damage for future generations of Iowans. You can read more from him here: https://www.iihr.uiowa.edu/cjones/. And props to Cookies by Design – Urbandale for the perfect treats.

Rhonda is holding her first Educating Rhonda luncheon on Saturday, August 10 at Trostel’s Greenbrier in Johnston from 11:30am to 1:00pm, with special guests, House Representative Karin Derry and retired Associate Executive Director of the ISEA Randy Richardson.

We will hear about how the 2017 changes in collective bargaining are impacting teacher negotiations, as well as hear about legislation still on the table for the next legislative session in 2020.

Finally, Rhonda hopes to hear from educators about what are the biggest challenges they face in today’s classroom and any ideas or innovations that might help them be successful.
